Indian forces claim seizing Pakistani flag balloons in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian forces personnel have claimed recovering balloons carrying Pakistani symbols from two separate locations in Baramulla and Kupwara districts.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a Pakistani flag attached to around ten balloons was spotted near Sarna Top in the Khadinayar area of Baramulla district. The flag and balloons were recovered by a patrolling party of the Indian Army and taken into custody.

In a second incident, a balloon bearing the inscription of Pakistan International Airlines was found atop a tree in an orchard at Naugam in the Handwara area of Kupwara district. The balloon was initially spotted by locals before Indian army personnel arrived and seized the object.

Observers say these exercises, including the overzealous recovery of harmless balloons, have increasingly become a public display of power, serving as a showcase for the Indian government and army rather than a genuine security measure. Locals have reportedly sometimes orchestrated such incidents themselves, subtly mocking the excessive vigilance while expressing their annoyance at the constant militarization of daily life in the occupied territory.
