Authorities ban use of VPNs in Kathua district for two months

Jammu: Authorities have banned the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in Kathua district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for two months.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the order, issued by District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma, said VPN services are being misused by certain individuals and groups.

The ban applies to all individuals, institutions, cyber cafes and Internet Service Providers operating within the territorial jurisdiction of Kathua district, except those explicitly permitted by the authorities through a specific official order.

The order comes into force with immediate effect.
