Korean civil society delegation discusses Kashmir dispute with APHC-AJK leadership

Islamabad: A high-level five-member delegation from the International Interchange Development Association (IIDA), led by its President Dr Mun Yong, convened a significant meeting with All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leadership in Islamabad.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Yong, who previously served as Chairman of the prestigious Sejong National Forum and the International Cooperation Committee of the Civil Society, engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the Kashmir dispute.
The visiting Korean delegation was briefed extensively by APHC-AJK representatives on the historical background of the Kashmir conflict, with particular emphasis on the current human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Kashmir. The APHC-AJK leaders provided detailed accounts of what they described as India’s brutal policies toward the Kashmiri people, including systematic efforts to implement a Hindutva agenda in the territory.
The policies of the Indian government are deliberately designed to alter the demographic composition of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and erase historical and cultural memories of the Kashmiri population. The delegation was presented with documented evidence of human rights violations and concerns regarding the erosion of Kashmir’s distinct identity.
“We are deeply grateful to Dr Mun Yong and his distinguished delegation for demonstrating such keen interest in understanding the ground realities of Kashmir,” APHC members said. “Their willingness to hear directly from Kashmiri leadership reflects the growing international concern over the humanitarian situation and the need for peaceful resolution in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” they remarked.
Dr Mun Yong expressed profound concern over the situation, stating: “The international community must remain vigilant about human rights situations that affect regional peace and stability. Our visit aims to foster better understanding and explore avenues for constructive dialogue. The voices of civil society play a crucial role in promoting peaceful solutions to long-standing disputes.”
The meeting forms part of the IIDA’s broader mission to enhance international cooperation and understanding of regional conflicts through direct engagement with civil society stakeholders. The delegation’s visit underscores growing international attention to the Kashmir issue from prominent global civil society organizations.
APHC said it is honored to be part of an important interaction today in Islamabad with a Korean civil society delegation led by Dr. Youngje Mun, Global President of the International Interchange Development Association (IIDA), South Korea, alongside the APHC-AJK leadership.
The APHC-AJK delegation included General Secretary Advocate Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Ms. Shamima Shawl, Altaf Hussain Wani, Shaikh Abdul Mateen and Hasan Al Bana, briefed the visiting delegation on the historical background of the Kashmir dispute and the systematic erosion of civil liberties in IIOJK, particularly since August 2019.
APHC expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to Dr Youngje Mun for his principled leadership and continued commitment to democracy, human dignity, and civil society engagement. His willingness to listen and raise the voice of the oppressed people of IIOJK reflects moral courage and strengthens international solidarity for a peaceful resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.
