Mirwaiz expresses concern over mosque profiling, attacks on Kashmiris

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the profiling of mosques by Indian police in the territory and the increasing attacks on Kashmiris in various Indian cities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said he said that unjustified data collection regarding mosques, imams, and management committees in the Valley is a deeply alarming development. He demanded an immediate end to this intrusive and discriminatory practice.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq further highlighted recent incidents of violence against Kashmiri students and traders in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other Indian states, calling them evidence of a growing climate of hostility toward Kashmiris. He noted that during the winter months, thousands of Kashmiri laborers travel to different Indian states in search of livelihood, and their mistreatment causes serious anxiety and distress to their families back home.

He urged the authorities to take the matter seriously and ensure the safety and protection of Kashmiris residing outside occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Mirwaiz also said that during his recent visit to New Delhi, he met prominent Muslim leaders and scholars, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’s Maulana Arshad Madani and Maulana Mahmood Madani, and briefed them on the latest situation in Kashmir.

He further announced that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) will soon convene a meeting of its constituent members and senior religious leadership to deliberate on mosque profiling and the growing difficulties faced by Kashmiris in Indian cities. He warned that if this discriminatory practice continues, a collective course of action will be adopted.
