India trampling democratic and human rights in IIOJK: APHC

Region to remain in uncertainty until resolution of Kashmir dispute: Spokesperson

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Indian government under Narendra Modi has stripped Kashmiris of all their fundamental rights, including economic and religious freedoms, and is plundering the territory’s resources with impunity.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, expressed regret that the world’s so-called largest democratic country is trampling democratic and human values in the occupied territory. He said Kashmiris have been deprived of all basic rights and that their homes and lands are being seized, leaving them strangers in their own homeland.

Minhas said India is attempting to maintain its illegal hold over Jammu and Kashmir through killings, arbitrary arrests, property seizures, dismissal of employees, and other oppressive measures. He added that the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people cannot be suppressed through colonial-style tactics, and urged India to abandon its policy of force, arrogance, and oppression to move towards pursuing a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

He emphasized that the Kashmir dispute is a political reality, and India’s claim of territory as its “integral part” cannot alter this fact. Minhas warned that failure to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people continues to threaten peace and stability in South Asia while adding to the hardships of the people of IIOJK.

Minhas reaffirmed that the Hurriyat Conference maintains a principled stance on Kashmir and will continue its struggle for a peaceful resolution of the dispute. He urged the international community to take notice of India’s ongoing oppression in the occupied territory and to play its role in ensuring that Kashmiris are granted their inherent right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Chairman of the International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the search operations at various places, including Baramulla, Ganderbal, Pattan, Budgam, Bandipora, Srinagar, Islamabad, Shopian and Pulwama, and urged the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate notice of this situation.

He said the Kashmiri people want to peacefully protest against the aggression of US and Israel on Iran, but the Indian authorities are depriving them of this right. He said that now is the time for the world to expose the real face of India and take concrete steps to stop the atrocities being committed against the people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
