Indian-origin social media influencer stabbed to death in Canada

Ottawa: A 45-year-old social media influencer from Indian Punjab, Nancy Grewal, was stabbed to death in Canada, with her mother in Jalandhar revealing that Nancy had repeatedly received threats to her life.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Nancy was killed in LaSalle in Ontario. She had moved to Canada in 2018, completed a course in nursing, and was working for two companies.
In a post on social media, the LaSalle police service said, “Shortly before 9.30 pm on March 3, emergency services responded to a report of a stabbing. A 45-year-old woman was located with injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.”
Later, the police identified the victim as Nancy Grewal, adding that it was investigating the incident. “We are sharing that investigators are viewing this as an isolated incident,” it further said, while urging people for any information and providing video surveillance.
Nancy was quite active on social media, frequently expressing her opinions on different social and political issues in Punjab.
Speaking to reporters in India’s Jalandhar city, Nancy’s mother Shinderpal Kaur said her daughter was stabbed multiple times. She urged the Canadian authorities to nab those behind the murder. Kaur revealed that Nancy had previously survived an attack when her house was set on fire, and that threats against her continued. She also claimed that a youth with face covered had even come to Nancy’s house to conduct a reconnaissance.
