Kashmiri MP donates salary for Iranian school hit by US strike
Calls for restoration of IIOJK statehood
New Delhi: Indian Parliament member from Baramulla constituency of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Engineer Rashid announced in the Lok Sabha that he would donate his one month’s salary for the reconstruction of a school in Iranian city of Minab, where more than 100 children were killed in a US strike on February 28.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a discussion on Finance Grants, Rashid made a heartfelt humanitarian appeal, emphasizing that humanity must rise above political boundaries when innocent lives are lost.
“I will donate my one month’s salary for rebuilding that school where over a hundred children lost their lives. This is a small contribution, but it reflects our responsibility towards humanity,” Rashid said.
He also highlighted the solidarity from Kashmir, noting that people in the occupied territory had come forward in large numbers to support victims of the US-Israeli aggression in Iran, contributing whatever they could. “We must stand with those facing injustice,” Rashid asserted, urging the Indian government to adopt a compassionate and balanced approach in global affairs.
Furthermore, Rashid expressed concern over reports of attempts to sideline or target historical Muslim figures such as Qauid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan from academic or public discourse. He condemned these actions as unjust and warned against any effort to selectively rewrite of history. “History cannot be erased or rewritten by selectively removing personalities,” he said.
Rashid also reiterated the demand for the restoration of statehood to occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called for focused development in backward regions in the territory.
