CASO launched in Samba amid continuing militarization in IIOJK

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces on Sunday launched a large-scale search operation in Samba district, raising concerns over the continuing militarization of the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation was carried out in Bedh Khad village of the Darui area based solely on the suspicion of three men moving along a dried-up stream.

Despite the absence of weapons, the Indian Army, assisted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and paramilitary personnel, rushed to the area and imposed a cordon.

Officials said the search operation remained ongoing in the village and adjoining areas at the time of reporting, significantly increasing the military and police presence in the area. Observers pointed out that earlier, on March 31, 2026, Indian forces had taken an innocent youth into custody, killed him, and falsely labeled him a militant, later revealed to be an extrajudicial killing of a civilian.

Analysts note that such operations, often conducted under the pretext of “suspicious movement,” reflect a broader pattern of militarization in IIOJK, where ordinary civilians live under constant surveillance and the line between security and intimidation is increasingly blurred.

Residents reported that the heightened military presence disrupted daily life, highlighting the entrenched militarized environment in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
