Rajnath Singh’s threats reflect India’s guilty conscience, frustration: Analysts

Srinagar: Analysts and political observers have said that recent threatening remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh against Pakistan expose New Delhi’s “guilty conscience” and its aggressive posture, which continues to endanger peace in South Asia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rajnath Singh’s statement has further escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Observers believe such rhetoric is a diversionary tactic to shift attention away from India’s internal crises and its repressive policies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
They said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has long relied on hostile narratives and war hysteria to consolidate its political base, particularly during periods of domestic criticism.
Critics argue that instead of addressing mounting economic challenges, rising unemployment, and dissent within India, the regime resorts to jingoism and external threats.
Political experts further pointed out that such statements also reflect frustration within the Indian leadership over its inability to suppress the Kashmiri people’s just demand for their right to self-determination. Despite years of military presence, strict laws, and communication blackouts, the freedom sentiment in the territory remains strong.
