Rising intolerance and hate-driven violence against Muslims in India

Hindu hawker beheads Muslim man in Bihar over parking dispute

New Delhi: Reports of rising intolerance, discrimination, and hate-driven violence against Muslims in India continue to surface under the Modi-led Hindutva government.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a shocking incident of violence took place Bihar’s Araria district where a Muslim pickup van driver, Ali Hussain, was beheaded over a minor parking dispute. Ali Hussain had parked his vehicle in front of the stall of a Hindu hawker, Ravi Chauhan in Forbesganj town, which led to a heated altercation.

Police have reportedly identified the accused as Ravi Chauhan, who was later killed in a retaliatory mob attack. Eyewitness accounts cited by local reports said that the Hindu hawker first stabbed the Muslim driver and then beheaded him. He stood holding the severed head while people remained silent spectators and recorded videos.

After the attack, the accused fled the scene for some time, leaving the body on the roadside, which spread fear and panic in the area.

Human rights observers say such horrific incidents reflect part of a dangerous pattern of organized and hate-driven violence against Muslims in India. The public beheading and subsequent mob violence highlight what they describe as a breakdown of the rule of law in the country.

Reports have also highlighted a rise in incidents of hate speech against Muslims in India under the Modi government. The incident reflects a disturbing rise in communal hostility, where even minor disputes are turning into sectarian violence under extremist influence.

From hate speech to public beheadings, observers say this marks a red line that no civilized society can ignore. The brutality sends a clear message to the international community that the environment for religious minorities in India has become increasingly dangerous and demands urgent attention.
