BJP must answer to Kashmiri people over IIOJK statehood delay: Deputy CM

Jammu: Deputy Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Surinder Choudhary has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for delay in restoration of state hood to the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Surinder Choudhary talking to media persons on the sidelines of a programme in Jammu, said Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma will have to answer to the Kashmiri people for the delay in restoration of statehood. He asserted that the demand reflects the aspirations of the people.

The Deputy CM said that both he and Sunil Sharma come from a remote area and it is a blessing of the Almighty that both are in key positions in Jammu and Kashmir.

“This opportunity should be used for the welfare of people,” he said. “In a recent statement, Sunil Sharma made high-voltage remarks against the Abdullah family which should be avoided. We must not make such remarks,” Choudhary added.

The Deputy CM said the demand for restoration of statehood is not only by the National Conference but it is the demand of the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir. “It was also a promise made with the people by BJP,” he said. “He is also answerable before the people and should always remember that BJP promised the people of restoration of statehood.
