NC leader Ruhullah Mehdi reiterates demand for Article 370 restoration
Srinagar: Senior National Conference leader and Indian parliamentarian Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the restoration of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s (IIOJK) special status under Article 370.
According to Kashmir Media Service, taking to the micro-blogging platform X, Mehdi denounced the abrogation of Article 370 as a deliberate act by the Modi government to humiliate and erode the identity of the occupied territory.
Mehdi expressed his willingness to join protests in New Delhi demanding statehood for IIOJK, while emphasizing that the ultimate fight should focus on reclaiming Article 370. He also pledged to rally support from over 100 MPs for the cause.
“Accepting statehood without the restoration of Article 370 would be tantamount to surrendering Kashmiris’ honor and dignity,” Ruhullah declared. He urged unity and perseverance in the struggle to restore IIOJK’s special status and identity.
Highlighting his unwavering position since 2019, Mehdi said, “At one of my earliest public gatherings in Budgam and subsequently across Kashmir, I made it clear that our fight must center on the restoration of Article 370 and dignity.”
