Anger in Meerut over illegal sale of Shia Muslim waqf graveyard land
Meerut: Anger is growing in Meerut after Shia Muslim waqf graveyard land in Abdullapur, UP, was sold to private individuals using forged documents.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi visited the site near Qila Road and said the land, registered under Khasra 954 and Waqf Registration 2549, was being illegally transferred despite being under legal dispute. He said that forged papers were used to execute a sale deed for land containing nearly 100 graves.
Maulana Jawad demanded strict legal action. Locals have called for an immediate probe and suspension of any activity on the disputed site until the case is resolved. Officials have not yet issued a detailed statement. KMS-11K
