IIOJK HC upholds UAPA bail rejection for two Kashmiri detainees

Jammu : The High Court of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has upheld the rejection of bail to Imtiyaz Qadir Butt and Saleem Yousuf Makai, booked under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal dismissed the appeal against the January 31 order of the Special Judge, UAPA, Baramulla, which had rejected their bail plea in the case registered under the UAPA.
The court noted that the investigation was at a nascent stage and forensic examination of seized digital material was awaited.
Police had alleged that the accused were linked to Idar-e-Falah-u-Darien, Baramulla, and claimed to have seized documents, donation boxes, electronic devices and Rs 3.50 lakh in unaccounted cash.
Advocates Salih Pirzada and Ahmad Basaud appeared for the appellants, while Senior AAG Mohsin Qadiri with Maha Majeed represented the occupation administration.
