Truck driver killed, police constable injured as gunmen attack convoy in Manipur

Imphal: Unidentified gunmen killed a truck driver and injured a police constable in violence-hit and BJP-ruled Indian state of Manipur.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred when a convoy of trucks carrying essential supplies, including rice and fuel, came under attack on the Imphal–Ukhrul road on Friday despite security cover provided by Indian forces.
The driver, identified as Nitish Kumar, 57, from West Bengal, was killed in the firing, while a 35-year-old police constable, Disingam Maringmei, sustained injuries.
The convoy was travelling towards Ukhrul district headquarters when it was ambushed along the highway between Leingangching and TS Kasom in the jurisdiction of Litan police station.
Meanwhile, Indian Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel used tear gas against protesters, who were demonstrating against the Indian army in the same area.
