Jailed Hurriyat leader’s brother-in-law passes away in Srinagar

Srinagar: The brother-in-law of jailed Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam passed away after a brief illness in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, family sources confirmed that businessman Muhammad Rafiq Najar (68), the brother-in-law of Mushtaq-ul-Islam, passed away during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at his residence in Tanvirabad, Srinagar.

The family said that Muhammad Rafiq Najar, who had also been jailed several times in connection with the Kashmir cause, suffered a brain hemorrhage and passed away at his residence.

Mushtaq-ul-Islam who was released after several years in prison in May 2024 but was re-arrested in June 2024 from his residence in Batamaloo, Srinagar, by Indian police over his stance on the Kashmir dispute. He is currently languishing in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed deep grief over the demise and conveyed its solidarity with the bereaved family of the jailed leader.
