Mirwaiz greets Muslims on New Islamic Year, prays for global peace

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has extended greetings to Muslims and people across the world on the advent of the New Islamic Year, 1448 AH, and prayed for peace, mercy and reconciliation for humanity.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a message posted on X, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, “On the eve of the New Islamic Year, 1448 AH, we pray that the Almighty blesses the world with peace, mercy and reconciliation.”
He said that the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar, serves as a timeless reminder that faith, patience and hope can overcome even the most difficult challenges.
The Mirwaiz said that at a time when the world is witnessing conflicts, suffering and divisions, people should recommit themselves to the values of justice, compassion, dialogue and mutual respect.
Praying for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead, he said, “May this year bring peace to troubled lands, resolution of conflicts worldwide, unity to the Muslim Ummah, and blessings to all humanity.”
Pertinently, Muharram-ul-Haram, the first month of the Islamic year 1448 AH, will begin on Wednesday (June 17, 2026) in IIOJK.
