Farmers, labourers organizations in India announce protest against India-US trade agreement

Chandigarh : Farmers and labourers organizations in India have announced a protest against the proposed India-US trade agreement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, representatives of various farmers and labour organizations attended the meeting held in Chandigarh and announced a protest against the proposed India-US trade agreement.
Leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), AKMM, Azad Kisan Morcha, Kisan Mazdoor Sangh Morcha Haryana, Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh and All India MSP Morcha from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and other states participated in the meeting.
After the meeting, farmer leaders Gurnam Singh Chadoni, Balbir Singh Rajwal, V.M. Singh, Sarwan Singh Pandhar, Gurjanand, Surjeet Singh Phool and Kaka Singh Kodra and others said that all the organizations have unanimously decided to launch a large-scale joint struggle against the India-US trade agreement.
They said this agreement can pose a serious threat to the interests of Indian farmers, cattle breeders, workers and the general public. They said that all the organizations will come together on one platform and fight this war vigorously.
To decide the future course of action, it was decided to convene a meeting of five key representatives from each of the participating forums and organizations on July 1 at Kisan Bhawan, Sector 35A, Chandigarh.
The meeting will discuss a detailed strategy for a joint struggle against the India-US trade agreement. The leaders present at the meeting clearly stated that no compromise will be accepted on issues related to the country’s agriculture, animal husbandry, employment and food security and warned that if the Modi government ignores the concerns of farmers and workers, the united front will be forced to launch a nationwide movement.
