Pakistan to continue unwavering support for Kashmir cause: Nihal Hashmi

Karachi: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, led by its Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, called on Sindh Governor Syed Nihal Hashmi at the Governor House in Karachi and discussed the prevailing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation comprised APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmad Shah, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Zahid Safi, Sheikh Abdul Majid and Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani. The meeting discussed in detail the grim human rights situation in IIOJK, India’s ongoing atrocities, the Kashmiris’ internationally recognized right to self-determination and ways to effectively highlight the Kashmir dispute at the international level.

Governor Nihal Hashmi reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for self-determination. He urged the international community to fulfil its responsibilities regarding the grave human rights violations being perpetrated by India in IIOJK. He said the people of IIOJK had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for decades and stressed that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people to ensure lasting peace and stability in South Asia.

The Governor said India had already tested the option of military confrontation with Pakistan, but the Kashmir dispute could never be resolved through force. He maintained that the only viable solution lies in implementing the UN resolutions and granting the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said the Hurriyat Conference is a peaceful movement striving for the realization of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He said the entire central Hurriyat leadership remains incarcerated in Indian jails, including 34 women leaders. He said India continues to perpetrate gross human rights violations in IIOJK, affecting thousands of families. He added that Indian state terrorism had left over 24,000 widows and resulted in the martyrdom of more than 100,000 Kashmiris. He said the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their peaceful struggle for freedom and expressed hope that the international community would support their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah created Pakistan and, God willing, IIOJK would become part of Pakistan.

The delegation also informed the Governor that a Kashmir solidarity rally would be held on July 8 from the Arts Council Karachi to the Karachi Press Club to mark the 10th martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani. Governor Nihal Hashmi described the rally as a meaningful expression of solidarity with the Kashmiri people and paid rich tribute to their freedom struggle and immense sacrifices.
