Muslim woman forced through Hindu marriage rituals in Bihar’s Saran district

Patna : A disturbing video from Bihar’s Saran district has gone viral on social media showing a mob forcing a Muslim woman to undergo Hindu marriage rituals.

According to social media posts, the incident occurred on July 2 in Kamalpur village in Saran district. It is said that the woman was forcibly married against her will and according to Hindu customs.

The video, which has been widely shared on X, appears to show the woman surrounded by a large crowd. Her hijab is forcibly removed before sindoor (vermilion) is applied to her forehead as people around her chant the Hindu hymn ‘Jai Bajrang Bali.’

Throughout the video, the woman appears visibly distressed. At one point, she can be heard asking, “Why are you making the video?” seemingly indicating that it was being recorded and circulated without her consent.

The video has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users describing the incident as an act of intimidation and demanding action against those involved.

Several users alleged that the woman was coerced into participating in the ceremony and called upon the Bihar Police to investigate the incident and ensure accountability.

Many netizens expressed concern over the woman’s safety and urged the authorities to establish the facts and take appropriate legal action if any offence had been committed.

One user wrote, “The whole world should see what is happening to Muslims in India. Such coercion and violence openly carried out by Hindutva extremists is highly concerning for any democratic society.”

Others expressed concern over the safety of religious minorities and called for prompt legal action against those responsible.

There has been no official statement from the Bihar Police regarding the incident, and it remains unclear whether an FIR has been registered or not.
