Public outrage erupts in Jharkhand after CRPF soldier dies in road accident

Ranchi,: Public anger intensified in Jharkhand’s Chatra district after a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier, who was posted in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), was killed in a road accident in the district’s Simaria area, triggering protests and a major traffic blockade.
According to Kashmir Media Service, enraged residents and family members blocked the Chatra-Hazaribagh and Chatra-Tandwa-Ranchi highways with the soldier’s body, bringing traffic to a standstill on the two major routes.
The protesters demanded adequate compensation for the bereaved family, the immediate arrest of the truck driver responsible for the accident and a complete ban on coal transportation along the Chatra-Hazaribagh road, attributing reckless movement of overloaded coal trucks for repeated fatal accidents.
The deceased, 28-year-old CRPF soldier Lakshman Kumar Yadav, was killed after a speeding truck hit his motorcycle near Delho Valley in Chatra district on Thursday evening. He later succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.
Yadav, a resident of Birajpur village in Chatra district, was serving in IIOJK and had returned home on a month’s leave about a week ago.
Police seized the truck after the driver fled the scene and launched a search to arrest him, while the blockade continued till the filing of this report, severely disrupting traffic on the two highways.
