Lahore: Kashmir Centre organizes prayer session on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day
Lahore : A prayer session was organized by Kashmir Centre, Lahore, on the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day at Masjid Dar-ul-Salam, Jinnah Bagh, in which tributes were paid to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the prayer session was addressed among others by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir chapter leader, Engineer Mushtaq Mahmood, Mahaz-e-Raishumri leader Aftab Nazki, religious leader Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri, Kashmir Centre in charge Inam-ul-Hassan, Mirza Nisar Baig.
The speakers in their addresses said on July 13, 1931, the Muslims of Kashmir laid the foundation of the Kashmir freedom movement. They said on that day, 22 Kashmiris sacrificed their lives to fulfill a call to prayer and raised the flag of rebellion against the Dogra empire, which soon turned into a freedom movement and finally ended the era of Dogra oppression in 1947.
The speakers said even today in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the tragedies of July 13, 1931 are being repeated. They said the Indian army is committing the worst atrocities on the Kashmiris to weaken their spirit of freedom. However, they said India will never succeed in its nefarious designs.
The speakers further said the Kashmiri people are still standing firm against India’s usurping occupation. They have been continuously sacrificing their lives, property and honor, they said, adding the day is not far when the dark night of oppression will end in occupied Kashmir and the sun of freedom will rise.
At the end of the ceremony, Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri offered special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs of July 13, 1931 and for peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
