4 dead, several missing as flash floods, landslides hit Poonch

Jammu: At least four people, including three women, were killed and several others went missing after heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district early Sunday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, officials said all the deaths were reported from Surankote tehsil, the worst-affected area, where rescue teams have been deployed and relief operations intensified.

A 28-year-old woman, Nazia Kousar, was killed when her house collapsed at Noonabandi village. Her husband and three children were rescued with injuries. In Lower Murrah, landslide left six members of a family, including house owner Mohammad Latif, missing.

A minor girl, Iram, drowned in a stream at Marhote, while the body of an unidentified woman was recovered from a stream near Dhundak Lathoong bridge. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
