BJP members level corruption allegations against party leadership
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a fresh internal dispute has surfaced within the BJP, with a suspended party worker alleging that around Rs8.25 lakh was sought by a party leader in the name of jobs, permissions and other opportunities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, suspended BJP worker Afdal Waheed alleged that Islamabad district general secretary Arif Hussain Langroo asked him to arrange money for securing SPO positions, MY Bharat work and other opportunities. He also revealed that payments were sought for permissions and accommodation during the Amarnath Yatra and for furniture for the BJP office.
Waheed said he had submitted a complaint to the SSP Islamabad and demanded a proper inquiry to establish whether money was collected for permissions and other work and where it went.
The allegations have emerged days after the BJP suspended nine office-bearers following a August 5 rally in Islamabad.
The suspended workers later claimed that their action against them was linked to the complaints they had raised against local party leaders over corruption.
The episode has exposed an internal rift within the BJP, with allegations of financial irregularities now adding to the controversy surrounding the August 5 rally.
