Kashmiri youth sentenced to life in 2020 fake case in IIOJK
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a court in Srinagar has sentenced a Kashmiri youth, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar, described by police as a former militant, to life imprisonment in a fake case registered at Maisuma police station in 2020.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian police said Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar and a resident of Bichwara, Dalgate, Srinagar, was convicted under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code in FIR No. 03/2020. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000.
Police alleged that Dar was among the founding members of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM), which it described as a militant outfit operating in occupied Kashmir.
Police further alleged that during his period, he was involved in attacks on Indian checkpoints.
The development comes amid continued use of criminal and counterterrorism laws by Indian authorities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where Indian police and agencies frequently publicize arrests and convictions in cases linked to the armed conflict.
