Searches at 10 locations in IIOJK under guise of so-called cross-LOC movement probe

Srinagar: Indian authorities have intensified their crackdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducting searches at 10 locations across the territory in the name of investigating a so-called cross-Line of Control movement.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the searches were conducted in Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama and Budgam, further adding to the atmosphere of fear and repression prevailing across IIOJK.

The latest raids have once again brought Kashmiris under intensified scrutiny, searches and questioning, as Indian agencies continue to invoke allegations of cross-border movement to expand their military operations across the occupied territory.

The repeated use of such allegations to justify raids and investigations has deepened concerns over the expanding crackdown on Kashmiri civilians. Across IIOJK, Indian forces and investigative agencies have increasingly subjected homes, families and individuals to searches, surveillance and prolonged investigations on the basis of allegations that remain subject to official investigation and judicial scrutiny.

The latest operation comes amid a wider pattern of raids and cordon-and-search operations in the territory, reinforcing concerns that security measures are being used to target the wider Kashmiri population.

Kashmiris have long faced arbitrary arrests, property seizures, questioning and restrictions under draconian laws, while allegations of cross-LoC links are frequently highlighted by Indian authorities and media.

The intensified crackdown, therefore, raises serious questions about the continued securitisation of civilian life in IIOJK and the use of counterterrorism measures to suppress dissent and maintain an atmosphere of fear.

The developments underscore the urgent need for independent monitoring of Indian military operations in IIOJK and an end to collective punishment and coercive measures against the Kashmiri people.
