CJP calls Delhi march on Sept 5 over ‘unkept promises’ by Modi govt
New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide peaceful march in Delhi on September 5, alleging that the Modi-led Indian government has failed to honour commitments made to young people on July 25, after which protests across the country were withdrawn.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the march will begin at India Gate and proceed to the Delhi Police Headquarters. The CJP said families of NEET suicide victims and victims of alleged police brutality will lead the march, with students and youth organisations from across the country expected to participate.
Speaking to the media, CJP national secretary Aafreen Nawaz said, “The promises made to the youth are yet to be fulfilled despite repeated reminders from our side. We have been ignored completely. Therefore, the CJP is organising this march to seek the implementation of the commitments made to the youth.”
The party also said that a written assurance promised by the Indian government was still pending, and that New Delhi had not given a clear assurance in the Supreme Court on August 18 regarding quashing of FIRs registered during the protests.
The CJP said the continued delay had left young people with no option but to return to peaceful and democratic protest, and appealed to students and youth to assemble at India Gate on September 5.
