Protest held over dilapidated condition of Samba-Mansar road

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents staged a strong protest in Nud area of Samba district against the dilapidated condition of the Samba-Mansar road, blocking traffic for nearly six hours to express anger over the authorities’ failure to repair the road.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters said the road has remained in poor condition for a long time, with potholes and a damaged surface causing immense difficulties for commuters and posing constant risk of accidents.

Following the protest, administrative officials reached the spot and sought 15 days to resolve the issue, assuring necessary steps would be taken to improve the road.

After the assurance, the protesters lifted the blockade but warned of another agitation if demands were not met. Transporters and shopkeepers in Nud and locals in Mansar market also supported the protest by keeping vehicles off the road and shutting business establishments.

Meanwhile, the Samba-Mansar-Udhampur road remained closed for the second consecutive day due to landslides, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded and causing long queues of vehicles. Locals urged the BRO to deploy adequate machinery and restore traffic immediately.
