IIOJK authorities impose ban on VPNS in Doda

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have ordered a complete ban on the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) across Doda district, the latest in a series of digital restrictions in the territory.

The order issued by District Magistrate Doda Krishan Lal under draconian law, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita restricts internet access to most of the applications and websites in the name of a threat to public order, tranquility and security.

The prohibition applies to all individuals, institutions, cyber cafés, business entities and Internet Service Providers operating in the district.

Only cases explicitly authorized by the government through an official order have been exempted.

The authorities have warned legal action by and police in case of violation.

Rights observers have raised voice against the order stating that such actions are part of virtual restriction on internet use in the occupied territory.
