Kashmir not integral part of India but internationally recognized disputed territory: Pakistani delegate

Geneva : Pakistan has once again stated unequivocally at the United Nations that Jammu and Kashmir is not an integral part of India but an internationally recognized disputed territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan’s delegate to the United Nations Adeel Mumtaz Khokhar, addressing a session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, said India’s claims regarding Kashmir cannot alter its disputed status.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory, a fact acknowledged by multiple UN Security Council resolutions. He noted that India had taken numerous unilateral measures in Jammu and Kashmir since August 2019, including changes to laws and actions related to the delimitation of its constituencies.

Adeel Mumtaz Khokhar emphasized that the resolution of the Kashmir issue must align with relevant UN resolutions regarding the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination—a stance Pakistan has consistently advocated at global forums.

He said domicile certificates have been issued to non-Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir, asserting that the Kashmir dispute cannot be resolved by altering the demographic composition or the Muslim-majority identity of the territory.

He further said the Hindutva government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are demolishing Muslim places of worship.
