Dhruv Rathee calls Modi ‘anti-National’ over protesters’ detention
YouTuber criticises police action against people waving the Indian flag

New Delhi : Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the detention of protesters waving the Indian flag, saying that Modi himself has become “anti-national.”
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rathee made the remarks on social media platform X, reacting to the detention of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students Association (AISA) National President Neha Bora.
Rathee said around 50 police personnel had arrived to detain Neha Bora, for hoisting an Indian flag. Expressing astonishment at the scale of the police response, he described how she was seized and put into a police van.
He said a similar incident had occurred in the case of Dipke, who was detained by more than 50 police personnel when he stepped outside his home alone.
“Deshdrohi Narendra Modi. Only an Anti-national prime minister will detain and attack people for waving the Indian flag,” Rathee wrote on X
Drawing a parallel with British colonial rule, Rathee said people were arrested for hoisting flags during that period and argued that India was witnessing a return to those days in 2026.
Rathee’s remarks came amid protests in New Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with demonstrators demanding his resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
