APHC urges people to observe complete shutdown on February 11
Posters with pictures of Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru appear in IIOJK
Srinagar: Posters have appeared in Srinagar and other areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir appealing people to observe a complete strike on Sunday (11 February) to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent freedom leaders, Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other pro-freedom organizations through posters displayed in Srinagar and other parts of the territory paying homage to Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru said that these great sons of soil sacrificed their lives for the better future of the Kashmiris.
The APHC said that the sacrifices rendered by Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru and other martyrs would continue to serve as a beacon of light in the dark night of Indian oppression in occupied Kashmir.
The posters paying tributes to the martyred leaders said that their sacrifices would not go waste. They said the Kashmiris are engaged in a just struggle for freedom of their homeland from Indian yoke. In some areas, posters were also displaced by youth in the name of Freedom Lovers.
The posters carrying pictures of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru read, “We are the custodians of the blood of thousands of Kashmiri martyrs and would not rest until settlement of the Kashmir dispute.”
The posters maintained that the unresolved Kashmir dispute is the biggest hurdle in the way of durable peace in the South Asian region and urged the UN to take steps for its peaceful settlement. They also urged the world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the brutal laws imposed by India in the occupied territory.
It is to be mentioned here that India had hanged Muhammad Afzal Guru in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail on 9th February in 2013 in a fake case related to an attack on the Indian parliament in 2001. Muhammad Maqbool Butt was sent to the gallows by India in the same jail on 11th February in 1984 for his role in Kashmir freedom movement. The bodies of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru remain buried in the premises of Tihar jail.
