Four children lose lives due to BSF’s negligence in West Bengal
Kolkata: Four children have lost their lives in a tragic accident in West Bengal state, India, with locals blaming Border Security Force’s negligence for the deaths of innocent children.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, the children, aged between five and twelve years, died tragically while playing near Border Security Force (BSF) personnel who were digging for a drain pipe installation near the India-Bangladesh border in the Chopra area of West Bengal.
The children were playing in an area where BSF personnel were digging for the installation of a drain pipe when the earth suddenly caved in. The innocent and carefree children were engrossed in their games, oblivious to the dangers lurking nearby.
Earthmoving machines and tractors were hard at work, excavating mud for the BSF’s drain pipe installation project. But in a cruel twist of fate, the ground beneath them gave way, burying the children in a tomb of earth.
The incident has sparked a political row with allegations of negligence and demands for accountability. Political parties in the state are accusing the BSF of negligence and demanding accountability, as well as an investigation into whether the soil-digging work was carried out with the necessary permissions.
