Srinagar: Illegally detained Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Masarrat Aalam Butt, has urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres to use his good offices to help resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute and stop the genocide of the Kashmiri people being committed by Modi-led Indian government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Masarrat Aalam Butt in a message from infamous Tihar jail in New Delhi said the presence of nearly one million Indian troops has converted IIOJK into the most militarized zone in the world where human life has lost its honour, dignity and value.
He said that extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, torture and other widespread human rights abuses being perpetrated by the occupation troops have become a routine in IIOJK. He maintained that the Kashmiri people were being subjected to the worst atrocities for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination.
The APHC chairman said that it was high time for the UN to impress upon India to resolve the long-pending dispute over Kashmir in line with the World Body’s resolutions, warning any further delay would have dangerous consequences not only for the South Asia but beyond the region.
He highlighted that every Kashmiri lives in the territory of perpetual fear and oppression, suffocated by the heavy-handed tactics of Indian authorities. Butt condemnedthe Modi regime for systematically stripping away every fundamental right of Kashmiris, including their basic right to life.
