Tarigami links ongoing freedom movement in IIOJK to denial of basic rights
Srinagar: Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami, a leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has said that the ongoing resistance movement in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a consequence of the denial of basic democratic and human rights to the people of territory by India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tarigami, speaking to the media in Srinagar, criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Srinagar as disappointing. He condemned the IIOJK administration’s coercion of people to attend the rally organized by the BJP. He stressed the importance of maintaining democratic principles and individual freedom in political participation.
“It became evident that the administration, from top to bottom, assisted the BJP in organizing the rally, suspending all other work to ensure participation,” Tarigami remarked.
While highlighting the plight of the Kashmiri people, Tarigami questioned the absence of assembly elections and demanded the restoration of all democratic rights of the people.
