Rahul Gandhi leads charge against Modi govt’s ‘anti-constitution’ agenda

‘Agnipath scheme to be scrapped if INDIA bloc comes to power’

Lucknow: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reiterated his commitment to safeguarding the Indian constitution and announced plans to end the 50% cap on reservations if the INDIA bloc comes to power.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Bansgaon alongside Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi today drew a clear line between the INDIA bloc and its political opponents, saying, “There is the INDIA bloc and the Constitution on one side, and those who want to finish the Constitution on the other.”

He emphasized that the INDIA bloc would protect the Constitution with “dil, jaan aur khoon” (heart, life, and blood), underscoring the alliance’s dedication to upholding the country’s founding document.

Gandhi also declared that an INDIA bloc government would abolish the 50% cap on reservations, allowing for increased representation and opportunities for marginalized communities. This move is likely to resonate with voters from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, who have long advocated for greater representation and inclusion.

Rahul Gandhi also took aim at the controversial Agnipath recruitment scheme, vowing that the INDIA bloc would tear apart the scheme and discard it once in power. The scheme, introduced by the Modi government, has faced criticism for its short-term contractual nature and lack of pension benefits.

In a scathing attack on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi mocked his recent comment about being “sent by God,” saying, “God sent Modi to help Adani, not the poor.” This remark is likely a reference to the perceived close relationship between Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani, whose business empire has expanded significantly during the Modi government’s tenure.
