Kejriwal returns to jail, vows to continue fighting Modi’s ‘dictatorship’

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and a key opposition leader, returned to jail on Sunday after a brief release to campaign for the general elections.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Kejriwal was detained in March over a corruption probe and was allowed to campaign but was ordered to return to jail once voting ended.

In an emotional departure speech, Kejriwal vowed to continue fighting against a “dictatorship” [of Narendra Modi] and promised to keep battling from behind bars. “When power becomes a dictatorship, then jail becomes a responsibility,” he said.

Kejriwal’s party, the Aam Aadmi Party, has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating his arrest as a “political conspiracy” to silence him.
