Kashmiri prisoner dies in indian police custody in IIOJK

Jammu: A 32-year-old Kashmiri prisoner, Bilal Ahmad Kuchey, died in cusotdy of Indian police in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Bilal was falsely charged by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 25, 2020, for a suicide attack on an Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force convoy in Pulwama district five years ago.

Bilal was continuously harassed and interrogated by the NIA and military officials, which led to his illness and hospitalization on September 17 in Kishtwar district jail. Indian officials claim he died of a heart attack on Monday night.

The NIA filed charges against Bilal under various draconian laws, including the Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Foreigners Act, and Public Property (Prevention of Damages) Act.
