Airlines in India continue to receive bomb threats

New Delhi: Airlines in India continued to receive bomb threats on Saturday and Indigo Airlines says that five of its international flights received bomb threats.

According to Kashmir Media Services, more than 15 flights of Air India, Indigo Airlines and Akasa Airlines had to make an emergency landing after receiving threats.

Officials said that five international flights of Indigo Airlines received bomb threats. The airlines said they are taking all necessary precautions to protect the passengers along with the authorities. An Air Indigo flight from Jodhpur to Delhi had to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport due to a security alert and security concerns. Indigo Airlines said they are in touch with security agencies.

Sources in Air India Airlines said more than five flights have been affected following the bomb scare. However, the airlines have not yet officially confirmed the incident.

Akasa Airlines confirmed that some flights on October 19 were affected following security alerts. However, the airline refused to specify the number of affected flights. Akasa Air said the airlines’ emergency response teams are monitoring the situation.

An Air India Express flight from Dubai to Jaipur had to make an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport on Saturday morning after receiving a bomb threat via email. Officials said they did not find anything suspicious after the plane landed in Jaipur with 189 passengers on board. Further investigation of the matter is underway.

Earlier, Vistara flight (UK17) from Delhi to London was diverted to Frankfurt, Germany, after receiving a bomb threat.

On Saturday, an airline spokesman said the flight landed safely at Frankfurt airport and underwent mandatory checks.
