Hurriyat Conference believes in peaceful solution to Kashmir dispute, Mirwaiz

Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the Hurriyat Conference believes in a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute and is committed to continue its efforts to achieve this goal.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing the Friday prayer gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, today said a solution to the lingering Kashmir dispute is necessary for lasting peace and progress in the region.

He deeply regretted the continued illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Shahid-ul-Islam, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Pir Hafeezullah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar and others and demanded their immediate release.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq further said that a few days ago he met his colleagues Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Masroor Abbas Ansari after a long period of more than five years and it was an emotional moment for all of us. He said, “During the meeting, we remembered our departed colleagues Syed Ali Gilani, Maulana Abbas Ansari, late Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mussadiq Aadil and prayed for their elevation.”

Mirwaiz said that they also discussed the changed situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
