Modi regime attaches properties of four more Kashmiris in IIOJK
Srinagar: In a continuing pattern of aggressive policies aimed at dispossessing Kashmiris of their land and properties, the BJP-led Indian government has attached the properties of four more persons in the Kupwara district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the properties attached include nine kanals and 11 marlas of land located in Handwara area of Kupwara district. The land is estimated to be worth crores of rupees. The individuals whose properties have been attached are identified as Abdul Majeed Malla and Abdul Rashid Mir, both residents of Supernaghama; Arshad Ahmad Parry, a resident of Mandigam; and Sajad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Palpora Kralgund.
Indian police claim that these individuals have affiliations with mujahid organizations and a case has been filed against them at Police Station Kralgund. However, such accusations have often been used as a pretext for targeting and harassing Kashmiris.
It is worth mentioning here that since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, the Modi regime has intensified its campaign of land confiscations in IIOJK. The policy is being used as a tool to silence dissent, intimidate Kashmiris, and dispossess them of their land and assets. The widespread property seizures are viewed by Kashmir watchers as part of a systematic campaign to alter the demographic and political landscape through settlement of non-locals in the occupied territory.
