Kashmir a humanitarian issue, its resolution key for lasting regional peace: Mirwaiz
Srinagar: Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has emphasized that the Kashmir dispute is a humanitarian issue, and without its resolution, enduring peace and stability in the region remain unattainable.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar today, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq highlighted that the immense suffering and hardships faced by the Kashmiri people are directly linked to the unresolved Kashmir conflict. He called on both India and Pakistan to initiate a meaningful and result-oriented dialogue to achieve a just and lasting resolution to the dispute.
The Mirwaiz also paid tribute to the late Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad, a prominent Kashmiri leader, who recently passed away in Islamabad, Pakistan. He described the late Mirwaiz as a man of great character, an esteemed religious leader, and a respected scholar. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq noted that Molvi Muhammad Ahmad’s selfless service and invaluable contributions had earned him a distinguished and enduring legacy across Kashmir.
The Mirwaiz expressed deep regret that Indian authorities had denied him permission to offer the funeral prayers in absentia for Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah in Srinagar.
