Parra calls for fairness in lecturer recruitment reservation policy
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, MLA from Pulwama and senior leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has raised concerns over the reservation distribution in the recruitment process for lecturer posts conducted by the Public Service Commission.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Parra in a statement issued in Sringar highlighted that of the 575 lecturer posts referred for recruitment, only 238 are allocated for open merit candidates, while 337 are reserved, which may possibly by exploited by New Delhi through its powerful lieutenant governor in the territory. He criticized this distribution as disproportionately skewed and unfair, urging a review of the reservation policy to reflect population proportions.
Taking to X, Parra remarked, “Another day, another shocker! Out of 575 lecturer posts referred to PSC for recruitment, only 238 are for open merit students, while 337 are reserved. This injustice needs to stop!”
He expressed his dismay at the continuation of the reservation policy, which was introduced by the Modi-led Indian regime. “Fail to understand why the NC-led government is continuing with the BJP-introduced reservation policy? Requesting Omar Abdullah to revamp the new reservation policy strictly as per population numbers,” he added.
Parra called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to address the issue, urging a revision of the policy to ensure fairness and equitable opportunities for all candidates.
