Congress terms IIOJK governance ‘hazy’, reaffirms support for Article 370
Jammu: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra has termed governance in the territory “hazy,” expressing concern over the lack of clarity regarding roles and responsibilities in the newly-formed set-up.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Karra highlighted the unprecedented governance challenges in the territory, describing the current setup as a “transitional phase.” “It is ironic that even after a month of government formation, there is no finalization of business rules, leaving governance unclear and ineffective,” Karra said.
He criticized the delay, blaming New Delhi for failing to hand over power to the IIOJK government from the lieutenant governor.
Karra reiterated the support for the resolution in favour of Article 370 restoration passed in the Legislative Assembly advocating for statehood and locals’ rights over land, jobs, and natural resources. He emphasized that the backing was based on principles, not political gains, and argued that statehood is vital to review laws imposed after the abrogation of Article 370.
“Restoring statehood is essential to ensure laws serve the people of ” IIOJK, Karra said adding that the existing laws are not in the interest of locals.
