2 Indian policemen found dead with bullet injuries in Udhampur
Jammu: Raising concerns about stress and interpersonal conflicts among Indian forces’ personnel stationed in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, two policemen were found dead with bullet injuries in Udhampur district of the Jammu region early Sunday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the bodies, riddled with bullets, were discovered inside a police van parked near the Kali Mata temple in the district headquarters around 6:30 am. Upon discovery, a police team was dispatched to the site, and the bodies were subsequently moved to the district hospital for autopsy.
Initial investigations suggest the two officers may have fatally shot each other, an official revealed. The exact circumstances leading to the tragedy remain unclear, and further inquiries are underway.
According to Udhampur police, an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident.
Speaking to the media, SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure said that the personnel were on their way to the Talwara training centre from Sopore.
“The incident happened at 6.30 am. They were going from Sopore towards the training centre in Talwara. Police officers have reached the spot. As per the initial investigation, it has been proven that an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident. Two Police personnel have died. A third Police personnel is safe. They will be taken to GMC Udhampur for postmortem and other procedures,” the Udhampur SSP said.
