Iltija Mufti urges action on Reservation Policy promises
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has called on the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir government to fulfill its promises regarding the rationalization of the reservation policy.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at an anti-reservation protest in Srinagar, she emphasized the need for equitable seat distribution based on population proportions.
Iltija clarified that PDP is not against any community but stands in solidarity with students advocating for policy reform. She urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to provide a time-bound assurance, highlighting the prolonged delays in addressing the issue.
“We are here for the students, not for politics. The government must act on its promises to safeguard the future of younger generations,” she stated.
Pointing to the high unemployment rate of 37% in the territory and the frequent cancellation of recruitment exams, Iltija stressed the urgency of resolving the matter despite it being sub-judice. She criticized the lack of progress from the recently formed sub-committee on the issue and reiterated the PDP’s commitment to supporting student-led initiatives. KMS-4K
