APHC leaders condemn desecration of Holy Quran in Srinagar jail

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders and various Hurriyat organizations have strongly condemned the recent desecration of the Holy Quran by Indian troops in Central Jail Srinagar, calling it an act of deliberate provocation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior APHC leader and President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi, addressing a gathering in Budgam, expressed his outrage over the heinous act. He warned that such an affront to the Holy Quran, fueled by the Islamophobic policies of the occupation authorities, reflects their abhorrent double standards. He said these acts of desecration occur under the direct supervision of those in power, revealing the extent of religious bigotry perpetuated by the Indian authorities.

Other Hurriyat leaders and organizations, including incarcerated Fayaz Hussain Jafari, Syed Sibte Shabir Qumi, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu Kashmir, and Kashmir Ulema Council, in their statements, have also condemned the blasphemous act in the strongest terms. They unequivocally stated that such sacrilegious acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

They maintained that the BJP-led Hindutva government of India was deliberately undermining the religious and cultural identity of Kashmiri Muslims. They said that the Indian government was systematically using such actions as tools to provoke and harm the religious sentiments of the Kashmiris, further intensifying the suffering of people under occupation. These deliberate attacks on religious symbols, they stressed, are part of India’s broader anti-Muslim policies aimed at eroding the identity of the Kashmiri populace.

In light of these grave violations, the leaders called for international intervention to hold India accountable for its blatant attacks on religious freedoms and human rights in IIOJK. They warned that continued impunity for such actions will only escalate the already volatile and fragile situation in the region.
