Traffic suspended on Srinagar-Jammu highway due to flash floods
Srinagar: Vehicular movement on the Srinagar-Jammu highway was suspended on Wednesday following flash floods and a mudslide in Ramban district, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, traffic was halted after a flash flood and mudslide occurred near the T2 Canopy in the Magerkote area of the district, traffic officials said.
Officials told media persons that the highway had been rendered unsafe for travel due to the sudden accumulation of debris and water, blocking the vital stretch. Restoration work is underway, and commuters have been advised to avoid the route until further clearance is issued by the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, the Jammu–Rajouri–Poonch highway has been blocked in the Kalal area of Poonch district due to a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall, officials said.
