AIP holds protest in Srinagar demanding release of Engineer Rashid, other political prisoners

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), workers and leaders of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) staged a protest in Srinagar today, demanding the immediate release party president and Indian parliament member Engineer Rashid, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in New Delhi. The protestors also called for the release of all other Kashmiri political detainees.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstrators carried placards and banners, chanting slogans like “Reha Karo, Reha Karo, Engineer Rashid Reha Karo”, while urging authorities to free all political and innocent prisoners from Kashmir languishing in jails across India.
MLA Langate, Khurshid Ahmad, who participated in the protest, said that today Engineer Rashid completes 7 years in jail. He strongly condemned the prolonged detention of Engineer Rashid and highlighted the broader issue of political prisoners from Kashmir. Speaking to the gathering, Khurshid said, “This protest is not just for Engineer Rashid, but for all Kashmiri political prisoners and innocent people locked up in jails outside the state.”
He urged IIOJK political parties and elected representatives to raise their voices for the release of Kashmiri political prisoners, criticizing them for their silence on this critical issue. “Your election manifesto promised representation, but the reality on the ground remains starkly different,” he said.
