Lahore: An anti-India protest demonstration was held in front of the Press Club in Lahore under the auspices of Kashmir Centre, Lahore.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of leaders and activists of political and social parties, members of civil society and representatives of the Kashmiri community participated in the protest demonstration.
The participants were carrying black flags and placards on which slogans like “India should stop atrocities in occupied Kashmir” and |Give the Kashmiri people the right to self-determination”, “The international community should take notice of Indian atrocities in the occupied territory” and “The blood of the martyrs will not go waste”.
Senior PPP leader Ghulam Abbas Mir, Central Joint Secretary of PML-N Azad Kashmir Raja Sherzaman Advocate, In charge of Kashmir Centre, Lahore, Inam-ul-Hassan, Secretary of Kashmir Action Committee Farooq Azad, Hurriyat leader Nazir Mir, General Secretary of PML-N Azad Kashmir, Lahore Division, Bilal Butt, Vice President Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, PML-N leader Amjad Rathore, Constituency President Atif Mir, renowned religious leader Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri, Professor Mazhar Alam, Nazar Bhinder, renowned actors Aslam Mughal, Nisar Baig, Tariq Jafri and others addressed the demonstration.
They said India has been committing atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris for the past eight decades but it has failed to weaken their spirit of freedom. They said Kashmiris celebrate India’s Independence Day as a black day every year, giving it a clear message that it is merely an aggressor in Kashmir.
They said the BJP-led Indian government has deprived Kashmiris of all their fundamental rights, including the right to freedom of expression, and is trying to mislead the international community through its false narrative of normalizing the situation in the territory.
The speakers said the international community is not ready to accept the Indian narrative regarding occupied Kashmir and it continues to consider Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory.
They said that the world powers should play their role for an immediate and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute.
During the protest, slogans like “Kashmir will become Pakistan”, “India’s Independence Day is a Black Day for Kashmiris”, “Kashmiris have the right to freedom” and “Go India Go Back” were raised. KMS—11A
